A 'global statesman' of business change, Arie de Geus is widely recognised as the originator of many of the principles and practises underlying the "Learning Organisation" concept, and is one of the world's most effective business strategists. After a remarkable career in scenario planning and organisational learning, he now helps organisations of all kinds reorganise and prepare for their futures.

Director and Steward: Robert Goodsell

This is a picture of Robert Goodsell

In his work Robert combines the roles of business strategist, developer of teams, communicator and marketer to help senior groups and individuals firstly understand, and then profoundly influence the system in which they work. The role of the individual as an agent of change in organisations is central to Robert's work.

Robert is one of the founding directors of the social enterprise Akatemia, a SoL sponsored venture to bring the 'learning by doing' methods of business education from Tiimi Akatemia in Finland to Universities in the UK.

Educated in the UK with a first degree in Engineering and Economics Robert has worked in global organisations in many industries and now works internationally with clients in Europe and the Middle East. Robert is also a psychotherapist specialising in working with executives with questions about personal purpose.

Director and Steward: Geoff Marlow

Director and Member of the SoL Global Leadership Team.

Geoff has over 25 years experience as an innovation consultant and executive team coach, principally for client organisations in Asia, Europe and the US with large populations of high IQ people. His specialism is helping organisations to enable, embed and embrace innovation as a way of life.

He is a frequent partner of the global market leader in custom executive development, Duke Corporate Education.

Director and Steward: Graham Robinson

This is a picture of Graham Robinson

Graham has had three careers engaged in issues of organisational learning – as a business school researcher; as a director in a multinational IT company and as director of a business development consultancy where he focussed on organisational design and development.

He is a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Surrey Business School and, as a director of SOL-UK, serves as a director of Akatemia and Vice Chair of the Daedalus Trust's Research Advisory Group.

Steward: Rick Trask

This is a picture of Rick Trask

Rick is Canadian and has spent 16 years in the UK. He has over 25 years experience in large corporates and SMEs (primarily in Sales, Marketing and Systems Design), 3 years running a small charity, and 5 years as a coach and facilitator in organisational development.

Since his university days he has been very interested in systems theory - particularly how it relates to the social sciences. These days he is focused on organisations as living systems and how this metaphor can have practical uses in the workplace.

Steward: Femke van der Veer

This is a picture of Femke van der Veer

Femke runs Bright Blue management consulting, which helps organisations and teams proactively shape their future through processes like scenario planning, trend tripping and imagineering. Femke works with large multinationals like Unilever, Philips, Nestl, Fortis and KLM as well as with entrepreneurial start-ups.

Apart from consulting, Femke is a visiting lecturer at the Mountbatten Institute in London (teaching Managing People in Organisations), the University of Surrey (teaching Entrepreneurship and Creativity) and Delft University of Technology (teaching Strategic Product Development).

Prior to consulting and lecturing, Femke worked in London for telecoms company Orange, where she was Ambassador of Strategy in the 'Imaginarium'; Orange's creative strategic think tank. Before that, she worked for Arthur D. Little in The Netherlands and for NGOs in El Salvador and Kenya. Femke has an MSC Industrial Design Engineering from Delft University of Technology and an MBA from INSEAD.

Administrator: Jane Hill

Jane’s involvement with the Society for Organisational Learning started in 1997 as part of her role as PA to Arie de Geus. Over the years she has visited SoL International in Boston MA, helped maintain links between various worldwide SoL fractals and was part of a team that organised a SoL International conference in Bordeaux. In June 2010 she took on the role of Administrator of SoL-UK.
