SOL-UK EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING

@ FRIENDS MEETING HOUSE, EUSTON ROAD, LONDON NW1

1830 TO 2030 ON WEDNESDAY 8TH JULY 2009

ALL SOL-UK MEMBERS AND MENTORS WERE INVITED TO ATTEND THIS SPECIAL MEETING TO DISCUSS THE EVOLUTION AND A WAY FORWARD FOR SOL-UK.

Firstly, we would like to thank all those who contributed either by email or by attending the meeting in person.  We were very encouraged by members’ high level of enthusiasm and engagement.  For those who could not attend, all responses were circulated and taken into account at the meeting.

The formal minutes of the meeting are attached below but here is a synposis of the outcome of this very important meeting.

Following the receipt of the two proposals that have been previously circulated (one from Roy Woodhead and another from Arie de Geus and Graham Robinson), and in the interests of consensus, the Directors' original proposal was withdrawn.

Following a very positive and constructive discussion there was consensus that the proposal put forward by Arie de Geus and Graham Robinson, which built on the structure proposed by Roy Woodhead, should be accepted.

This means that a new Stewards' Council has been formed consisting of:  Rosie Beckham, Arie de Geus, Johannes Froehlich, Orit Gal, Robert Goodsell, Tony Hodgson, Bob Mitchell, Graham Robinson, Nazreen A. Subhan and Roy Woodhead.  We also have two new Directors:  Graham Robinson and Orit Gal.   Rosie Beckham has agreed to be re-appointed as a Director and Nazreen A. Subhan will continue in her role as Director.  Sadly, Brendan Ward and Didier Clement have decided to resign their Directorships of SOL-UK.  We would like to thank both Brendan and Didier for all their hard work for SOL-UK in the past.

We are sure that you will be pleased that Arie de Geus will continue as President of SOL-UK.

The Stewards' Council have undertaken to report back to the membership by 8th October (3 months time) with a work plan, financial estimates and the composition of the work groups that will take responsibility for each of the items in the work plan.

So you can see that we have a great group of enthusiastic, talented and committed people on board to take SOL-UK forward and we would like to thank you all for your patience in bearing with us during this time of transition. Please note that we will refer to all the ideas and suggestions that have been put forward during the Stewards’ meetings that will take place over the summer.

This is a really positive outcome for the future of SOL-UK and we look forward to your continued support and participation.

Several suggestions for evening events and workshops have already been put forward to the Stewards Council and we would welcome members’ further ideas and suggestions. We hope to be able to bring you news of our next event in the near future and look forward to seeing you soon.
