A SOL Dialogue

Hopefully, in the SOL-UK September and November newsletters, many of you will have read about the progress of SOL-UK's nascent research partnership with the University of Surrey's Team Academy initiative and the inspiring ideas on how to extend the project more widely.
In response to a great deal of interest from SOL-UK members, and others, in this initiative we were pleased to have been able to arrange a evening event around this topic on 20th October 2009. This provided an opportunity for an open dialogue about the Team Academy experiences, challenges and options associated with its approach. We were very fortunate to be joined by two recent graduates of the Finnish programme, Henna Kaarianen and Johhanna Hytonen, together with Liher Pillado from Mondragon University in San Sebastian, where he is involved in the establishment of the University's own Team Academy. We were also joined by Theresia Warwitz from the Linde Group, in Munich, who recently attended a Team Academy International Programme and offered us another, complementary view of the Team Academy experience. We were also joined by Nigel Biggs, who was able to report on the Team Academy's pilot at the University of Surrey; and several members of the Campaign for Learning's executive team who kindly hosted the event.
